2009 Pacific Orchid Expo in San Francisco
It is the 2nd year I paid pilgrimage to the orchid show in SF, supposedly the largest orchid show on the west coast. There were so many orchid enthusiasts, it was hard to believe majority of those were men! It turned out to be a spectacular day in the city by the bay. We walked along the marina 4 times, and never got tired of it. It was even better we found a jewelry sale along the way as well. Everyone's out in the sun, almost every boat was out in the harbor and the weather just couldn't be better. With orchids in arms, golden gate bridge under the sun, life couldn't be more beautiful in California.
Dendrobiums are my new discoveries at the show, they also can be grown outdoors in the bay area. They have clusters of little delicate flowers, very nice fragrance and re-blooming...hmm, me like it. Two please. :-)
Cymbidiums were always crowd pleasers. I couldn't resist something so low maintainence and can live out doors even during California winter time. So, in the spirit of the show, I carried one of these home. But mine was golden yellow with red lips.
These are huge, they are bigger than a rice bowl, they were the stars of the show last year, I can see a lot more commercially available because of last year. But for some reason, I am not tempted either...
Happy little things, aren't they?
Lots of fragrant Zygo at the show, but with 4 of those at home, I am not tempted now...I am not tempted...
Golden Gate bridge under the sun, lots of kayakers.
